Located in the heart of Uccle, in a calm and pleasant setting, Doctor Olivier Ravet, Ophthalmologist, welcomes you to the Messidor Medical Practice.
Dr. Olivier Ravet provides care for both adults and children. He offers specialized consultations and performs various specific ophthalmic surgeries.
Cataracts are a common eye condition that causes progressive clouding of the lens. Treatment involves a surgical procedure to remove the affected lens and replace it with a clear implant. Performed on an outpatient basis, without hospitalization, this quick and painless procedure significantly improves visual quality.
Laser Treatments for Vision Disorders (Myopia, Astigmatism, Hyperopia)
Visual disorders such as myopia, astigmatism, or hyperopia can be corrected using laser techniques targeting the cornea. These procedures, performed in a specialized ophthalmological setting, are considered safe and effective. A complete eye exam is carried out beforehand to determine suitability.
Glaucoma is a chronic eye disease caused by increased intraocular pressure, which can lead to irreversible vision loss. Regular screening exams are essential, especially after age 40. If detected, medical or surgical treatments may be proposed.
Diabetes can lead to serious eye complications such as diabetic retinopathy. Regular ophthalmologic follow-up with retinal examinations is essential. Proper care helps prevent the progression of this often silent condition and limits its visual consequences.
Patients with diabetes or age-related macular degeneration (AMD) require rigorous eye care. The fundus is a key ophthalmological examination for monitoring the condition of the retina and blood vessels. In the event of deterioration, injection or laser treatments can be considered to stabilize the situation.
Some eye diseases, such as AMD or diabetic retinopathy, require specialized treatment. After a thorough ophthalmological examination, a range of treatments can be proposed, from lasers to intraocular injections, or even surgery. Hospitalization is generally not required, except in complex oremergency situations.
After studying at the University of Liège (ULG), Dr. Ravet specialized in ophthalmology under the supervision of Professor Galand.
He then completed a two-year internship in Paris at the Quinze-Vingts Hospital (XV-XX) with Professor Baudouin, and at the Rothschild Foundation with Professor de Laage.
He went on to complete a 3-year residency at Erasmus Hospital in Brussels (ULB), where he continued to build his experience for 9 years.
He currently consults at the CHIREC hospital in Braine l’Alleud, the Centre Médical Jean Monnet in Nivelles, and the Centre Médical Edith Cavell.
Doctor Ravet also welcomes you to the Cabinet Médical Messidor in Brussels (Uccle).
